Klopp: We will consider appealing Mac Alister's red card.

Liverpool manager set to lose midfielder for three matches after sending-off in win over Bournemouth

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has stated that the red card issued to Alexis MacAllister in the 3-1 win against AFC Bournemouth will most likely be appealed.

Referee Thomas Bramall gave the Liverpool player a straight red card for serious foul play on Ryan Christie.

Mac Allister will miss Liverpool’s next three Premier League games, beginning with a trip to Newcastle United next weekend, followed by a home fixture against Aston Villa and a trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“It’s harsh, this shouldn’t have been a red card,” Klopp explained.

“It was a mistake, and the punishment of playing 40 minutes with 10 men is enough.” We need to speak with the authorities.

“There was contact, but there is contact in every game.” Nobody would suggest, ‘By the way, you need to take another look at it if he issues you a yellow card.’

“The amount of times I’ve already been asked about it shows it is worth discussing again, which we will probably do.

“‘Macca’ replied, ‘He touched him, but not really.’

“Aside from contact, there’s no other box checked on a list of what you need to give a red card.”

‘I hope Trent’s OK’

Despite the victory, Klopp witnessed Trent Alexander-Arnold and Luis Diaz limp off the field.

When asked if Alexander-Arnold was okay after being replaced, Klopp replied, “I hope so.” He informed me that he had received a painful kick.

“But, as far as he was concerned, it didn’t twist or anything; it was a kick, and that’s why we changed.” But I’m hoping he’ll be well.”
