Roberto De Zerbi names his ‘best player on the pitch’ as Brighton thrash Wolves.

Following a convincing 4-1 win over Wolves, Solly March’s double propelled Brighton to the top of the standings after the 3pm kick-offs.

The Seagulls took the lead via to goals from Kaoru Mitoma and Pervis Estupinan, and March scored two before substitute Hwang Hee-chan pulled one back for the hosts.

Mitoma scored a fantastic solo goal for Brighton in the 15th minute, darting inside and beating three Wolves defenders before sliding the ball past keeper Jose Sa.

Two goals inside the first six minutes of the second half, from Estupinan and March, had the visitors 3-0 ahead.

Wolves cut the deficit in the 61st minute when Hwang Hee-Chan headed in from a corner, with the goal upheld after a VAR review.

But it was the performance of Enciso – who was selected ahead of record signing Joao Pedro – that caught De Zerbi’s eye.

“Mitoma is an incredible player who scored an incredible goal.” March scored twice, and I believe Enciso was the greatest player on the field. And our defenders were outstanding. It is not my job to comment on national teams, but I believe Solly is ready to play for England.”

“We are pleased with the outcome and performance,” the Italian added. I think we played pretty well till 4-0, and then we could have played better and improved our mentality because we have a large aim and we have to play the same manner for 90 minutes to attain the target.”

Brighton will need a plethora of options from the bench this season as they compete in the Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup. “I’m lucky to have such an incredible squad,” De Zerbi added.

“We have a good mix of old and new players.” We have two players in every position on the field, and they will all play and contribute to the squad during the season. My job is to assist the athletes in pushing themselves further and further. The players are responsible for their play style and results. I’m fortunate to be able to select the first XI from among so many talented guys!”
