Aston Villa have opened talks with Arsenal about signing Nuno Tavares.

As Unai Emery looks for defensive reinforcements, Aston Villa are in negotiations with Arsenal about signing full-back Nuno Tavares.

On Sunday, Villa grabbed their first three points of the new Premier League season with a 4-0 hammering of Everton, and Tavares might be on his way to the Midlands club.

Tavares had been linked with a transfer to  Nottingham Forest, but that fell through, and Villa are now in talks with Arsenal about signing the 23-year-old.

Meanwhile, Villa are interested in Sevilla defender Marcos Acuna as Emery attempts to strengthen his team in LaLiga.

The Argentine started Sevilla’s UEFA Supercup loss to Manchester City in Athens on Wednesday and is the subject of talks between Aston Villa and Sevilla.

Acuna, 31, has one year left on his current contract and has never played in the Premier League.

Lucas Digne is being pursued by Ligue 1 club Nice, so there could be more exits from Villa.

The French side, managed by Didier Digard, have made an offer to Villa for the 30-year-old as they attempt to bring the defender back to his home nation.
