Jamie Carragher gives his thoughts on new Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou.
Jamie Carragher has commended Ange Postecoglou, saying he enjoys listening to the new Tottenham Hotspur boss.
Carragher was commenting on Monday Night Football (Sky Sports; 14/8 at 18:30) following Spurs’ 2-2 draw with Brentford on Sunday.
Of course, the big question heading into the game was how Tottenham would survive without Harry Kane. But if there is one manager who can assist the club move on from the loss of perhaps their best player, it is Ange Postecoglou.

So far, Postecoglou has handled everything in stride. And it was encouraging that Tottenham were able to put up a performance that earned them a point at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Spurs’ performance was not flawless. But it undoubtedly fanned the appetite of supporters for what might come next under Postecoglou.
Carragher is plainly not sure that Tottenham will have the finest season this season. He did, however, state that he is already a great fan of the new boss.
“Will Spurs have a difficult season?” You’d think so given the situation with Harry Kane, but I truly enjoy listening to the manager,” he said on Monday Night Football.
“He comes across very well in press conferences, and he always seems to get the tone just right.” They gave a good performance and got a good outcome.”
There will undoubtedly be some significant potholes on the road. Postecoglou employs a very different style of play than Antonio Conte. Last summer, the club came close to going all in on the Italian.
There will be things Postecoglou wishes he could change but cannot. And there will be other factors beyond of his control, such as Kane’s departure.
Nonetheless, the lineup that started against Brentford on Sunday appeared to have the makings of a Postecoglou team. And they should only get better in the coming months as the style becomes second nature.
If Tottenham can make a couple of intriguing acquisitions before the transfer deadline, the club could surprise a lot of people this season.
