BALOGUN ADDS CHELSEA TO LIST OF SUITORS

BALOGUN ADDS CHELSEA TO LIST OF SUITORS

Chelsea are the latest club to express interest in signing Folarin Balogun, according to the Evening Standard.

Following an excellent year on loan at Stade de Reims in France, the USA international has been approached by a number of clubs this summer.

West Ham, Fulham, and Inter Milan have all been connected with the 22-year-old, while Monaco presented a bid that Arsenal turned down because it fell short of our asking price.

It’s unclear whether the pricing is the same for all clubs. There were suggestions that the Gunners mentioned a considerably larger price when Sp*rs sniffed around (as if we’d actually agree to that deal) and that Edu would demand at least £50 million from Chelsea; a significant sum for a guy with just one Premier League appearance.

The Blues’ interest in Balogun stems from a desire to add firepower to a roster that now includes *checks notes* nine attackers. The Hale End graduate isn’t the only one on their radar; Brennan Johnson (Nottingham Forest), Mohammed Kudus (Ajax), and Bradley Barcola (Lyon) are also thought to be on their radar.

Balogun has not played for Arsenal in the first two games of the season and has not played since the MLS All-Stars game in Washington, D.C. over a month ago.

He had a knock at one time, but as far as we know, he’s recovered. The transfer market expires on September 1st, so if Chelsea is serious about signing, they must act quickly.
