‘It’s completely ridiculous,’ Kevin Campbell said of the comments made about the 24-year-old Arsenal star.

Arsenal defeated Crystal Palace 1-0 on Monday evening, but it was far from a convincing effort.

The Gunners did win 1-0, but they should have won by a larger margin.

Eddie Nketiah wasted a couple chances in front of goal, and he was chastised by a lot of supporters after the game.

Kevin Campbell, speaking on the Highbury Squad YouTube channel, wasn’t having any of it, arguing that anyone criticizing Nketiah after the game must have an agenda against the player, claiming that the striker actually played rather well.

‘It’s completely ridiculous,’ Kevin Campbell said of the comments made about the 24-year-old Arsenal star.

Campbell defends Nketiah

The pundit mentioned the striker.

“Eddie worked hard, and he did a great job as a striker linking the play.” Anyone who is attacking Eddie right now must have a reason. “Scoring goals is part of your job as a striker, so you will miss some,” Campbell explained.

“A lot of people just don’t like Eddie Nketiah being up front for Arsenal; those are the people who are upset.” I have no objections since I think he played well. ‘How can you say Eddie performed well if he missed three chances?’ asked someone previously. Why can’t you play well and blow three opportunities? It’s completely absurd.

“People want to lump Eddie in, but Eddie did well today in my opinion; yes, he’s our backup, but he’s played two games and we’ve won both.”

Playing well

If any Arsenal supporter is jumping on Nketiah’s back right now, it’s because they’re being unduly critical.

The Gunners have won both of their first two games, and Nketiah has played a key role in both of them. He opened the scoring against Nottingham Forest last week and won a penalty versus Palace on Monday.

Could he have gotten more points? Possibly, but with six points after two games, there’s little need for nitpicking at this stage.
