Fulham make an approach to Atalanta Duvan Zapata after his loan transfer to Roma collapse

  • Fulham are keen to sign another striker after Aleksandar Mitrovic’s departure
  • The Cottagers have signed Adama Traore, Raul Jimenez and Calvin Bassey so far

Fulham have inquired about Atalanta forward Duvan Zapata, whose loan to Roma expired last week.

Despite signing former Wolves striker Raul Jimenez  this summer, Marco Silva’s side are still looking for a new striker following Aleksandar Mitrovic’s £46 million departure to Saudi giants Al-Hilal.

Zapata, a conventional target forward like Mitrovic, was set to join Roma on loan this summer, but the Colombian apparently had reservations, and the move fell through at the last minute.

Although rumours in Italy suggest Zapata is likely to continue at Atalanta, Fulham have approached the striker to see if he is interested in a move to west London.

Meanwhile, the Cottagers are interested in AZ Alkmaar defender Yukinari Sugawara.

The Japanese star is being considered as a replacement for Kenny Tete, who is being pursued by Bayern Munich.

Fulham have also signed ex-Wolves and Barcelona midfielder Adama Traore, as well as former Ajax defender Calvin Bassey.

Silva’s side, who began their campaign with a 1-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park, suffered a dismal 3-0 home defeat against Brentford last weekend.

The Cottagers will hope to bounce back with a result against title challengers Arsenal on Saturday.
