Tottenham midfielder James Maddison missed the latest training session ahead of this weekend’s clash against Bournemouth.

According to The Athletic (subscription required), James Maddison was not seen in the recent Tottenham Hotspur training session ahead of this weekend’s game against Bournemouth.

Maddison was carried out of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on crutches on Sunday after contributing significantly to Spurs’ 2-0 victory over Manchester United.

The 26-year-old had a foot scan on Monday, but the extent of his injuries is unknown. There may be more information on this when Ange Postecoglou speaks to the media on Friday.

If Maddison does miss a few games, it will be devastating for Tottenham. Despite being a newcomer to the squad, his impact in the first two games of the season was enormous.

After Harry Kane left, the squad needed someone to connect up with players like Heung-min Son and Dejan Kulusevski. Despite the fact that Maddison is a different player, he appears to have a solid chemistry with players in the final third.

Furthermore, with Postecoglou’s 4-2-3-1 style, there aren’t many better than the Englishman in this squad’s number 10. If the latter is out for a few games, the manager may go for a 4-3-3 formation with two aggressive number eights flanking a front three.
