Van de Ven explain why he enjoys playing for Spurs under Postecoglou.
Micky van de Ven has admitted that he and his Tottenham teammates are relishing playing for Ange Postecoglou as the Australian is very straightforward in what he expects from the players.
Postecoglou has made a fantastic start to his career at Tottenham Hotspur, and the atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium following the final whistle against Manchester United demonstrated that the Australian has already won over the fans.
While the fans are clearly delighted to see the team doing well, the 57-year-old’s interviews have likely played a significant role in winning them over.
According to Van de Ven, the players are relishing the fact that Postecoglou is a straight shooter, with the Dutchman noting that the squad already has a family feel to it.
Micky Van de Ven is impressed by Postecoglou
When questioned about Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, the centre-back told talkSPORT: “He’s a lovely guy.” He’s great for all of us since he’s quiet yet direct about what he wants.
“He is clear; everything is clear for everyone in the locker room, and everyone on the team knows what he needs to do and what he expects from us.”
“He’s a nice guy – a lovely guy – but he’s straight and knows what he wants to be and what he expects from us in his playing style.”
“He has a good vibe with everyone, a good relationship with everyone, and I think everyone on the team loves him and we feel like one big family, which I think is really important.”
Despite the fact that the Tottenham job is likely the most difficult Postecoglou has faced in his career, success has followed the Australian coach wherever he has gone.
When asked if he might repeat his Celtic success at Tottenham, Van de Ven replied, “That’s a possibility.”
“I believe that the way we play now, every player on the team enjoys playing under him and the way he thinks about football.” We can sense each other, and we know what he wants and what he expects from us.
“So we do what he wants, and I believe he also considers how we think about it, so it’s not only from one perspective, but from both perspectives, and I believe that will help the team and the manager develop everyone.”

While there have been many encouraging indicators in the opening couple of games, it is still early and the Spurs fan base should not get too excited.
There is no doubt that Posteocglou will face a steep learning curve in his first six months in the Premier League, and given the way we play, we will almost certainly be on the receiving end of some poor score lines in the coming months.
To help the squad get through the expected rocky patches, fans must not abandon the new government at the first indication of difficulties.
