AC Milan player names Tottenham Hotspur star as a role model
AC Milan’s new signing Marco Pellegrino has said that he tries to model his game around Tottenham centre-back Cristian Romero.
Romero had a promising first season at Tottenham after joining from Atalanta in the summer of 2021, but the centre-back suffered in the second half of last season, as did the rest of the Spurs squad.

Although he played a key role in Argentina’s historic World Cup victory last November, his problems at club level have led many to wonder whether he is an elite central defence (talkSPORT).
The 25-year-old revealed to The Athletic earlier this summer that he was frustrated with the level of his performances last season and stated that he is eager to show his best under Ange Postecoglou this season.
Romero has had a promising start to the season, working with a new defensive partner in Micky van de Ven, and Spurs fans will be hoping that his performance against Manchester United is a harbinger of things to come.
Cristian Romero is already a role model to others
Pellegrino, a young Argentine defender who recently joined Milan, has stated that he considers the Tottenham player to be one of the greatest in the business.
The 21-year-old told Milan TV (as quoted by TuttoMercatoWeb) after signing for the Rossoneri: “My idol is Sergio Ramos, and today I like ‘El Cuti’ Romero.” He is a total defender in my eyes, and I try to follow him.”
Spurs Web Opinion
It’s easy to see why Romero would be idolized in Argentina after playing a key role in their World Cup victory.
However, while the 25-year-old has the potential to develop into a world-class center-back, he is far from the finest in the world right now. To be in that conversation, he needs to run a few of consistent campaigns in a row.
