Joao Palhinha scores a dramatic late equaliser against Arsenal
Arsenal fell short of a comeback triumph at the Emirates, tying 2-2 with 10-man Fulham after a late equalizer by Joao Palhinha.
When Bukayo Saka threw a sloppy back ball into the path of Andreas Pereira, who proceeded to rush forward and scoop a first-time shot behind Aaron Ramsdale, the hosts got off to the worst possible start. The Arsenal keeper was left isolated, and although frantically backpedalling, he couldn’t prevent Pereira’s improvised effort from entering the bottom left-hand corner.
Arsenal had numerous chances to equalize before halftime but failed to capitalize. Gabriel Martinelli tested Bernd Leno on many times, but the Fulham keeper was unfazed, while Raul Jimenez came within inches of scoring with a superb overhead kick and Harry Wilson shot just wide.
