Jackson, who arrived for £32 million in June, appears to be a major element of Pochettino’s Stamford Bridge transformation.
Following the Luton victory, the former Tottenham manager lavished praise on his new striker.
‘We knew Nicolas Jackson’s quality when we signed him, we seen it before,’ he remarked. We don’t ask him to go and push the ball; he’s good at recovering the ball, but he can also finish.
‘It’s only a matter of time before he starts showing it more in the Premier League. Nicolas Jackson possesses exceptional talent. I have no doubt that he has the potential to become one of the best strikers in the Premier League.’
The Argentine is well-versed in producing premium strikers, having helped Harry Kane become one of the world’s top attackers during their time together at Spurs.
Jackson showed glimpses of his talent in Chelsea’s opening two games of the season, against Liverpool and West Ham, and will undoubtedly feel more at ease after scoring his first goal in Chelsea blue.
Former Stamford Bridge favourite Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink thought Pochettino’s notion that the 22-year-old is destined to be a star was ambitious, but he was impressed by what he has seen of Jackson so far.
‘Wooh, it’s a big statement!’ he told Sky Sports. Mauricio must be knowledgeable. He sees him every day in training and sees how much effort he puts in and how he does in his drills and other activities.
