Former Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku is getting closer and closer to making the move to Roma from Chelsea.

The Giallorossi and the Blues are getting closer to an agreement on a loan fee for the 30-year-old, according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

After a summer of great drama and controversy, Lukaku appears to have found a club for this season.

A comeback to Inter was called off under difficult circumstances. Meanwhile, talks with Juventus and AC Milan appear to have fizzled. Romelu Lukaku is set to Roma on loan from Chelsea

The free-spending Saudi Pro League was also interested in Lukaku.

And Chelsea has consistently stated that the Saudi Pro League is their desired destination for Lukaku. This would make it easier for the Blues to reclaim a significant portion of what they paid for the 30-year-old in 2021.

Lukaku, on the other hand, wishes to remain in Europe.

And it now appears that he will return to Serie A. But not anymore with the Nerazzurri, Rossoneri, or Bianconeri.

Roma & Chelsea Negotiating Details Of Romelu Lukaku Transfer

Naturally, Chelsea’s objective this summer has been to get rid of Lukaku once and for all.

And it appeared that the Londoners would get their desire. Inter were prepared to pay €35 million plus €5 million in add-ons before abruptly cancelling the agreement in response to the Belgian’s antics.

Chelsea, on the other hand, will have to settle for another loan move.

Yesterday, the Blues and Roma made great progress in loan talks, according to the Blues.

The first thing they need to do now is agree on a loan charge. According to the Gazzetta, the difference between Chelsea’s demands and Roma’s offer is approximately €3 million.

However, it appears that the two clubs can sort it out.

Meanwhile, Lukaku is willing to accept a considerable wage cut in order to transfer to the Stadio Olimpico. He is expected to earn roughly €7.5 million net this season.
