Fabrizio Romano tells what he knows about Spurs’ move for Brennan Johnson.

Tottenham are preparing a concrete approach for Brennan Johnson, according to Fabrizio Romano, after Ange Postecoglou sanctioned the move for the Nottingham Forest player.

The conjecture linking Johnson to a late move to the Spurs has ramped up in the last 48 hours.

On Saturday, we relayed a report from The Telegraph claiming that Tottenham are ready to start talks over a deal for the 22-year-old, with the North London club eager to secure the versatile attacker’s talents before the transfer deadline.

According to the article, while Forest valued the player at more than £50 million, Spurs hoped that £40 million plus some extras would be enough to seal the deal.

On Sunday, Alasdair Gold took to social media to claim that it is Postecoglou who is driving Tottenham’s interest in Johnson, with the Australian seeing the player as a strong match for his system and valuing his versatility.

Interest growing from Spurs in Brennan Johnson

Romano is the latest journalist to report on Tottenham’s interest in the Wales international, stating that a bid from the Lilywhites is coming.

He also confirmed Gold’s claim that Postecoglou had given the go-ahead to bring Johnson to Hotspur Way.

However, Romano noted that a deal will be difficult for Tottenham to complete because Forest have already turned down ‘huge approaches’ for their academy graduate this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

It has already been generally publicized that Postecoglou is the one who is pushing on signing Johnson, which is why I wholeheartedly support this move. The Australian certainly sees something in the 22-year-old and appears to be optimistic about his chances of getting the most out of him.
