Inzaghi is ‘glad’ for Lukaku at Roma, believing that Inter can be even stronger.

After multiple changes, Simone Inzaghi ‘hopes’ Inter can be even stronger than last season and believes he is ‘glad for Italian football’ that Romelu Lukaku is headed to Roma on loan from Chelsea.

Denzel Dumfries and Lautaro Martinez both scored in the first 30 minutes to give Cagliari a comfortable victory.

Lautaro Martinez and Hakan Calhanoglu also hit the post, with Yann Sommer only making one serious save late on from Paulo Azzi’s scuffed finish.

“The lads did very well, we had the right approach from the first minute against a newly-promoted side that had done very well in its opening game and was making its return to Serie A in front of the fans,” Inzaghi told DAZN.

Wing-backs have always played an important role in Inzaghi’s teams, notably at Lazio, and he usually replaces them in the second half. Inzaghi is ‘glad’ for Lukaku at Roma, believing that Inter can be even stronger.

“They are very important, and we have mezz’ala players who can also play as strikers at times.”

Marcus Thuram provided his first assist in an Inter jersey and was once again preferred over Marko Arnautovic.

“He did exceptionally well considering he arrived six weeks ago and has worked tirelessly since the first day.” He settled in quickly, he is bright, and he knows when to close gaps and when to make space. I believe he deserved a goal today for his efforts.”

Lautaro Martinez continues to impress, scoring three goals in the first two Serie A games and clearly enjoying his new role as captain.

“In the two and a half years I’ve been at Inter, he’s grown exponentially.” He feels more and more responsible; he plays an important role in how we understand the game, and I am confident he will continue to do so.”

This was a rematch of the 2-0 win over Monza, therefore they have yet to surrender this season and have surpassed Napoli, Milan, and Hellas Verona as the only clubs with a perfect record.

Despite reaching the Champions League Final and retaining the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana, Inzaghi spent the majority of last season with the Sword of Damocles dangling over his head, with reports of a dismissal every other week.

“I have been at Inter for two years and a bit, I have travelled my path, and I am happy to be here at this great club with these wonderful fans,” added the coach.

“I know we have a lot of responsibility here, but I’m happy with what we accomplished, winning trophies and doing important things that our fans had been waiting for a long time.”

Lukaku agreed to join Roma on loan from Chelsea for around €8 million plus add-ons today, and Inzaghi was asked for his thoughts on the decision.

“Roma have done a lot, and having Lukaku back is good for Italian football.” We all know he’s a fantastic player. “I am very happy with the squad I have at my disposal and the values they bring to the Inter family.”

The Belgian spent last season at Inter and was in talks to extend his contract until they were enraged to learn he was also in contact with their archrivals Juventus.

Inter lost key players like as Romelu Lukaku, Edin Dzeko, Andre Onana, and Milan Skriniar, but added Thuram, Alexis Sanchez, Yann Sommer, and, perhaps, Benjamin Pavard.

Inzaghi was asked if this year’s squad will be even better than last year’s.

“That is our hope. We know that we lost key players and that we altered ten members of the squad, but we still see an organized Inter with its tactical ideas. That’s a fantastic sign for a coach.”
