Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes will be fined for missing training.

City’s £47 million deal for the 25-year-old Portugal international was rejected last week.

However, Wolves are expecting an improved offer before the transfer deadline on Friday night.

Nunes did not report to training on Sunday or Monday and did not receive authorization from manager Gary O’Neil to be absent.

Wolves are said to want more than £60 million for Nunes, who has stated his desire to join Pep Guardiola’s side.

The Midlands club signed the player on a five-year contract last summer, paying Sporting Lisbon a club-record £38 million.

Nunes was instrumental in Wolves avoiding relegation in the second part of last season, finishing 13th in the standings.

Nunes is facing disciplinary action after failing to attend training at Compton Park and informing the club of his wish to join the Premier League champions.

City had a £47million bid for Nunes rejected last week but while reports have claimed a second, improved bid had been lodged, sources close to Wolves insist they are yet to receive one.

Wolves have no desire to sell Nunes unless City match their valuation, reported to be around £60m.
