The Blues are now closing in on the signing of the highly-rated attacking talent after seeing their first offer of around £35million turned down. football.london understands Chelsea submitted their second offer for Palmer on Wednesday afternoon and are now very confident a deal can be completed. It could even be all finalised by Thursday ahead of Friday’s deadline.
Palmer, who has been on the outside of Pep Guardiola’s first-team at the Etihad Stadium this season, has made three appearances for the Premier League champions in all competitions. He scored in the FA Community Shield as well as the UEFA Super Cup.
Chelsea have been looking for a new winger who can also play as a No.10 and see Palmer as the ideal option. Barring any late surprises, this is likely to be Chelsea’s final incoming of the summer transfer window.
