Chelsea and Manchester City have reached an agreement, understood to be around £45million, for the transfer of winger Cole Palmer, football.london understands.

The Blues are now closing in on the signing of the highly-rated attacking talent after seeing their first offer of around £35million turned down. The 21-year-old is keen on moving to Stamford Bridge as he looks for more consistent game time. Chelsea and Manchester City have reached an agreement on the sale of Cole Palmer.

football.london understands Chelsea submitted their second offer for Palmer on Wednesday afternoon and are now very confident a deal can be completed. It could even be all finalised by Thursday ahead of Friday’s deadline.

Palmer, who has been on the outside of Pep Guardiola’s first-team at the Etihad Stadium this season, has made three appearances for the Premier League champions in all competitions. He scored in the FA Community Shield as well as the UEFA Super Cup.

Chelsea have been looking for a new winger who can also play as a No.10 and see Palmer as the ideal option. Barring any late surprises, this is likely to be Chelsea’s final incoming of the summer transfer window. Palmer, 21, emerged as a late target for Chelsea as the summer transfer window came to an end.

Mauricio Pochettino has approved a deal for the England U21 international, eager to add another attacking option before the deadline on Friday.

 

Chelsea have signed a deal with City to sign Palmer, according to The Athletic, and the west Londoners will pay between £40 and £45 million.
