AS Roma has signed Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku on a loan deal.

Romelu Lukaku will reconnect with Roma coach Jose Mourinho after stints at Chelsea from 2013-14 (despite being loaned to Everton that season) and Manchester United from 2017-18.

Lukaku has 78 goals in 132 matches across all competitions for Inter Milan over three of the past four seasons.

Rome: Romelu Lukaku’s season-long loan from Chelsea to Roma was completed on Thursday, two days after the Belgium striker was greeted at a local airport by thousands of Giallorossi fans.

“The welcome I’ve received from this club and its fans has excited me and given me even more motivation to give my all for my new team,” Lukaku said in a statement released by Roma. “As an opponent, I felt the atmosphere of the Stadio Olimpico, and the warmth of the Romanisti.” AS Roma has signed Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku on a loan deal.

The loan for the 30-year-old Lukaku is said to have cost eight million pounds ($10 million), bringing the total transfer fees spent on the former Manchester United, Everton, and Inter Milan centre forward to nearly 300 million pounds (around $375 million) — second only to Neymar in football history.

Lukaku has agreed to take a pay cut from nearly 11 million euros to around 7.5 million euros in order to move to Roma, who are operating under a Financial Fair Play settlement agreement made with UEFA.

Roma have collected one point from their first two matches and their inability to convert dominance into goals was fully on display during Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Verona.
