Sunderland have completed the loan signing of Mason Burstow for the remainder of the season.

During preseason, the teenage striker saw consistent action and even scored in one of the friendly.

His first competitive start came this week against Wimbledon, but it appears that will be his last for a while as he travels to the North East. Armando Broja’s return from injury in the next two weeks would limit the 20-year-old’s possibilities going forward. Mason Burstow has joined Sunderland on a one-year loan agreement.

Burstow has demonstrated exceptional talent as he has progressed through the levels from non-league football, and we are eager to see what he can do in the Championship.

He arrives too late to play in tomorrow’s game against Southampton, but we all know how busy the Championship fixture list is, and Burstow will receive the starts he needs to really grow this season, with manager Tony Mowbray potentially taking him under his wing.

Mauricio Pochettino’s reign at Stamford Bridge has given the 20-year-old more game time than expected in the first few months.

Burstow has been included to Chelsea’s first three Premier League squads, as well as the EFL Cup clash against AFC Wimbledon, after appearing for 68 minutes during preseason.

Burstow appeared as a substitute against West Ham United and Luton Town before appearing for 64 minutes against Wimbledon on Wednesday night.

However, the prospect’s objective had always been to play regular football in the EFL, preferably the Championship, for the first time in his career.
