Marco Silva believes it should be ‘impossible’ for a disputed Man City goal to be allowed.
Fulham manager Marco Silva believes it should have been “impossible” to allow Manchester City’s disputed second goal in their 5-1 loss to the Premier League champions. The Cottagers had been holding their own against the triple winners at the Etihad Stadium until a Nathan Ake header on the stroke of half-time put City ahead. Fulham argued long and hard that City defender Manuel Akanji, stood in an offside position, had played at the ball and impacted goalkeeper Bernd Leno.Despite a VAR review and further lengthy protests, the goal was given and City went on to win comfortably with a second-half hat-trick from the prolific Erling Haaland.Silva said: “The second half was not at the level that it should be. I tried to warn the players not to get distracted by things we couldn’t control, but that moment had a significant influence on them.”Even all of the explanations we heard throughout that time period made no sense.”What can I say? Everyone who plays football, everyone who has played football, everyone who knows anything about football has to disallow that ambition.”PA Marco Silva believes it should be ‘impossible’ for a disputed Man City goal to be allowed.
