Erik ten Hag has named his squad for the upcoming Champions League group stage
Erik ten Hag has picked his squad for the upcoming Champions League group stage, with the Manchester United manager’s decision hinting to his future aspirations.
Erik ten Hag appears to have ended Donny van de Beek’s Manchester United career by leaving him out of the club’s Champions League roster.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Red Devils announced their team for the next competition’s group stage. However, Van van Beek’s name was omitted from the 25-man roster, implying that the Dutchman may be on the move in the coming weeks.

Van van Beek appeared in just four games across all competitions last season and has yet to be named to a matchday squad this season. The fact that he did not make the Red Devils’ Champions League team appears to be the final nail in the coffin of his United career.
Midfielders Christian Eriksen, Casemiro, Mason Mount, Bruno Fernandes, Scott McTominay, and Sofyan Amrabat have been chosen instead. Van van Beek’s omission indicates that he is on his way out of Old Trafford.
Even if he did not depart before the end of the Premier League’s summer transfer window, the 26-year-old could still find a new club. Last Friday, it was rumoured that Galatasaray were among those interested in signing the midfielder.
The Turkish behemoths recently had a £1 million loan offer rejected, but they remain interested. Their transfer window does not end until September 15, giving Van de Beek the opportunity to go.
Van van Beek scored in United’s preseason match against Lyon, but is yet to appear in a competitive game this season. Following that goal, he confessed that he had been concerned about his position in the squad since Ten Hag’s arrival.
“It was fantastic, my first game in six months.” I don’t have to tell you that recovering from such an injury has been extremely challenging for me and my family. “It felt great to be back on the field,” he said.
“Of course, scoring a goal is nice, but that wasn’t the most important thing; it was an added bonus.” It was also incredible because I had been looking forward to this moment for months. I know it’s just a friendly game, but it’s a big deal for me.

“It’s easy to say, but at the end of the day, I think it makes you mentally stronger because you realize that when you play every day, you don’t want this kind of moment to happen, but if it happens, you realize how much you love playing football.”
In the group stage, United will meet Bayern Munich, Copenhagen, and Galatasaray, which means they might face Van de Beek if he joins the latter. On September 20, United go to Bayern Munich to begin their season.
Their squad includes A-listers as well as players that were either club-trained or association-trained. The B List will be filed before of the game against Bayern Munich, with United announcing that Alejandro Garnacho will be “definitely” included.
This list will include other players from the academy and will be updated before to each game. The A List includes all of United’s summer additions, albeit the squad only covers the group stages.
