LUCAS HERNANDEZ WILL START AT CENTRE-BACK FOR FRANCE AGAINST IRELAND INSTEAD OF WILLIAM SALIBA

According to L’Equipe , France national team manager Didier Deschamps would like to start Lucas Hernandez (27) over William Saliba (22) at center-back when Les Bleus face Ireland tomorrow night at Paris’ Parc des Princes.

The newspaper understood this morning that the Arsenal man would be the favourite to replace the injured Ibrahima Konaté against the Boys in Green, alongside Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano. However, according to L’Equipe, Deschamps is considering using the versatile PSG defender as a centre-back instead of the Saint-Etienne academy product.

Hernandez was set to start at left-back against Ireland tomorrow, a position he has held for Les Parisiens since the start of the Ligue 1 season. Deschamps, on the other hand, is said to be keen on unleashing the more offensive of the Hernandez brothers, AC Milan’s Théo (25), against Ireland, who are likely to sit deep against Les Bleus.
