The match lived up to its promise, with Bayern and Leverkusen tied at the top of the table with 10 points.

After Alphonso Davies had hauled down Jonas Hofmann, Palacios thundered in his penalty kick. Bayern had seized the lead in the 86th minute thanks to Leon Goretzka’s tap-in following excellent early work from replacement Mathys Tel.

“I was pleased with the start, but Leverkusen improved after that.” Then, at the conclusion of the first half, we had several great scoring chances,” Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel told reporters.

“The outcome is reasonable. However, if you take the lead in the 86th minute, you should get three points even though a draw is the fair result.

“We struggled once more to keep the level steady throughout.” Our strikes grew shorter and more frantic. “We have to be more compact even when we are struggling,” Tuchel stated.

an unidentified Harry Kane scored his fourth goal of the season at the far post to give Bayern an early lead.

In an interesting first half, the visitors fought back and began pressing high, while Bayern struggled to maintain possession.

The visitors’ persistence paid off as they earned a free kick on the outskirts of the area. In the 24th, Alejandro Grimaldo curled it wonderfully over the wall and into the top corner.

For the next 15 minutes, striker Victor Boniface ran roughshod over the Bayern defence, missing chance after chance to put his team ahead.

But it was keeper Lukas Hradecky who kept Leverkusen in the game after denying Bayern four times near the conclusion of the first half with a flurry of brilliant saves.

After Bayern’s Sven Ulreich rejected a Jeremie Frimpong shot from point blank range, Hradecky stopped Kane in a one-on-one.

With Leverkusen back in control, Florian Wirtz struck the post after a good combination with Boniface in the 79th minute, and the Nigerian, who has four league goals, then wasted an opportunity of his own seconds later.

But it was Bayern who scored with Tel weaving past the Leverkusen defence to set up Goretzka.

Leverkusen, however, had the final say with Davies’ sloppy defending earning them a last-gasp spot kick after a VAR review. Palacios stepped up to secure a point for his team.
