Real Madrid has choose Xabi Alonso as manager for the coming season.

According to a report from Radio MARCA, Real Madrid has appointed Xabi Alonso as manager for the 2024-2025 season, which has since been reiterated and verified by other Spanish sites. Real Madrid has choose Xabi Alonso as manager for the coming season.

The former Real Madrid midfielder has performed admirably in his first professional position in elite football with Bayer Leverkusen, and he appears to be a good coach. Needless to say, he hasn’t won anything yet, and it won’t be easy for him to do so with Leverkusen, but he’s showed enough potential to be regarded a strong candidate to coach Real Madrid in the near future.

However, things could very well change. What if Ancelotti does not finish the current season with Real Madrid and is replaced by Castilla coach and club great Raul Gonzalez? Would the club still sign Alonso in such situation, or would Raul remain in control next season?

Alonso took over at Leverkusen in October of last year, when the squad was second from bottom after eight Bundesliga games.

The Spaniard, who spent five seasons at Anfield, made an immediate effect, leading Leverkusen to sixth place in the Bundesliga and the Europa League semi-finals.

Leverkusen have made an excellent start to the season, trailing champions Bayern Munich just on goal differential after five games. Real Madrid has choose Xabi Alonso as manager for the coming season.

Alonso drew interest from Tottenham before Ange Postecoglou was appointed, but he stayed with Leverkusen and signed a three-year agreement in August that runs until the end of the 2025-26 season.

Meanwhile, Ancelotti is set to resign when his contract expires at the end of the season.
