La Liga has a new boss. Girona have moved to the top of the table with 19 points from a possible 21 after taking advantage of Real Madrid and Barcelona’s recent slip-ups.
Mchel’s team began the season with a draw against Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena, and it has been all wins since then. According to MisterChip, this is the longest winning streak for a squad with similar ambitions since Tenerife did it in the early 1990s.
Villarreal holds the record for the most consecutive La Liga wins outside of the big three (Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Atlético Madrid), with nine in 2007.
