Former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson’s image has been replaced in the AXA training centre by Trent Alexander Arnold.

There was an image of Henderson holding up the Premier League title that he captained his team to back in the 2020 season on the wall, but it has now been removed following his contentious move to the Saudi Arabia Super League.

Now there’s a picture of Alexander Arnold holding the European Cup after his team won it in 2019, along with the phrase, “I’m just a normal lad from Liverpool whose dreams have just come true.”

Jurgen Klopp has already dubbed his new-look Liverpool team “Liverpool 2.0,” and the replacements in midfield, in particular, have played a crucial role in their strong start to the season.

Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Waturo Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch have been tasked with replacing past players that helped the team achieve unprecedented success.

Following a disappointing campaign, Henderson, Fabinho, Oxlade Chamberlain, Naby Keita, and James Milner all left Liverpool last summer as part of this makeover.

With their captain going, Virgil van Dijk was given the armband, while Alexander Arnold was given the vice captaincy, an extra special honour because he came via the academy.

Liverpool have gone undefeated in their first seven games this season and have advanced to the next round of the Carabao Cup after defeating Leicester City 3-1.

Klopp has stated that this is the ‘first year’ of this new Liverpool team, rather than ‘year eight,’ and it appears that the change in the training facility is part of that.
