Luka Modric is NOT considering joining Lionel Messi at Inter Miami, according to Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti, although the midfielder is unhappy with his playing time in Spain.

This season, the Croatian star has seen his playing time in Spain decrease, and he has been linked with a spectacular switch to Major League Soccer to partner Lionel Messi.

However, Ancelotti stated on Friday that Modric had no plans to leave the team.

‘I don’t think he’s thinking about it, we think he’s extremely important and he knows it, he doesn’t have that notion and we’re delighted with him,’ he said, before conceding that the 38-year-old is dissatisfied with the amount of playing time he’s had this season.

‘I speak to him every day, and I see a guy who is obviously unhappy not to play, but he keeps his motivation and drive to contribute to the team high; nobody can deliver what he gives in the dressing room. What he gives his teammates is his charisma.

‘I absolutely understand how not playing hurts him; it happens to everyone who loves Modric: fans, teammates, coaches; they all adore him.’

Miami has an unfilled designated player spot on the squad that may be filled by a player of Modric’s calibre.

They have also been connected with Luis Suarez, a former Barcelona colleague of Messi’s.

Modric has made eight appearances for Real Madrid this season, although five of them have come as substitutes.

His current deal with Real Madrid expires in the summer of 2024, therefore this could be his final season with the club.
