Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has won his first Castrol Save of the Month award after claiming the September 2023 prize for his acrobatic stop to deny Aston Villa’s Nicolo Zaniolo.
Sanchez showed quick reflexes to tip the Italian’s powerful volley over the crossbar.
He is Chelsea’s second Spanish keeper to win the title, following Kepa Arrizabalaga in October 2022 – again for a save against Aston Villa that was awarded the Castrol Save of the Season.
Sanchez topped a list of five other stunning saves by keepers this month.
