Conor McGregor does not appear to back Dillon Danis in his fight against Logan Paul.

Conor McGregor, the UFC legend, did not appear for Dillon Danis’ boxing match against Logan Paul.

McGregor, the former two-weight world champion, has been Danis’s teammate since before his rematch against Nate Diaz in 2016. Danis has remained a fixture in McGregor’s training camps since that fight and is expected to assist the Irishman when he returns to the UFC next year.

Danis sparred with McGregor in July before being named Paul’s opponent for the Misfits Boxing Prime night. McGregor was supposed to be at the Manchester Arena to watch Danis’ boxing debut from ringside, but he did not appear. McGregor did wish Danis luck in the bout during a FaceTime call only hours before he made the walk.

When chatting with Mirror Fignting earlier this month at an event to promote his Forged Irish Stout drink, the Irishman predicted Danis’ victory. “Dillon’s going to win,” McGregor predicted. “Because he had the baby, we couldn’t train together.” So I’m not familiar with the ins and outs. I know he’s doing well, that he’s still training, and that he’s going for it. He’d had a baby, a new baby, so I attempted to bring him out. Dillon is excellent.”

Danis’ battle against Paul is his first in four years after fighting a string of knee injuries. The Bellator MMA star was slated to battle KSI in January but backed out owing to insufficient preparation. Conor McGregor does not appear to back Dillon Danis in his fight against Logan Paul.

Despite not seeing one other as much as they would have wanted, Danis insists McGregor has helped him throughout training camp. “He communicates with me on a daily basis. On the mental side, he sends me voice notes, films, and tasks that I should complete. He’s constantly there for me, and even when we’re not physically together, we communicate every day.

“It was literally when he was born and I had the press conference and then he was in France; it was just a lot of travel.” We trained for almost two months in New York boxing every day before that, so we’re always training together.”
