Travis Hunter didn’t take long to remind the college football world what it’s been missing when he went down with an injury a few weeks ago. Colorado football’s two-way star made his long-awaited return from a lacerated felt on Friday against Stanford, nearly immediately making his solitary presence felt with a dirty touchdown catch and run while playing wide receiver.

When was the last time you saw a clean open-field spin move? That Hunter aggressively set it up by immediately getting vertical after grabbing the ball further adds to the impressiveness of his juke. His ability to effortlessly dash away from Cardinal opponents after the spin cycle demonstrates his incredible athletic abilities.

Hunter last appeared on September 16th, in Colorado’s exciting double-overtime triumph over Colorado State. He was taken out of the game in the second half by a nasty hit from Rams safety Henry Blackburn, who left him with a lacerated liver. Though Buffaloes supporters and college football fans in general were outraged by Blackburn’s gratuitous hit, Hunter swiftly extended an olive branch to his would-be opponent, culminating in the duo going bowling to collect money for charity.

“This week Henry Blackburn and I decided to get together, show some love to each other,” Hunter remarked in early October on 12 Talks. “We’re coming together to let everyone know that everything is fine in the world, man. All you have to do is be willing to forgive and forget. Accept that it has already occurred. I mean, it’s just us realizing we’re young men. Even if someone made a mistake, we come together and just show the people that you have to respect each other. Show folks the good side of myself. I don’t like to be negative, I’m not negative, and it’s difficult to get me furious. Me and him coming together really showed a different side of the world that there are actually wonderful individuals out there, and there will always be some positivity surrounding my name.”

Needless to say, there aren’t many guys like Hunter, who plays wide receiver and cornerback for Colorado and is the first primary two-way player in major college football since Chris Gamble broke the mould at Ohio State in the early 2000s. Football fans should take solace in knowing that no matter what side of the ball he plays at the next level, the sophomore will be making amazing highlights like this one appear routine for years to come.

What could be better for Coach Prime and Colorado? Hunter won’t be able to bring his unique talents, much alone his outstanding off-field viewpoint, to the NFL for at least another year.
