Real Madrid may have suffered yet another season-ending injury when defender David Alaba went down with what appeared to be a major knee injury during the first half of the encounter against Villarreal. Alaba injured his knee and was observed leaving the field of play in a lot of agony and visibly worried.

If structural damage is verified, Alaba would most certainly miss the rest of the season, leaving Real Madrid with only Antonio Rudiger and Nacho Fernandez as available center-backs. While Eder Militao appears to be on the mend after his own ACL tear, his availability for the second half of the season remains uncertain at best.
That could ultimately force Real Madrid to explore the transfer market unless coach Carlo Ancelotti decides to use players like Mendy or Tchouameni in the center of the defensive line.
A medical report on Alaba’s injury should be expected on Monday.
