Bournemouth Medical Director Roberts is set to leave the position after eight years.

CRAIG ROBERTS, the Medical Director at Bournemouth, is retiring at the end of this month after eight years in the position.

The South African joined the Cherries in November 2015 after working in rugby union for more than 15 years, first as a Team Physician with the Sharks in Durban and then as Team Doctor for the Springboks national team.

Bournemouth Medical Director Roberts is set to leave the position after eight years.

“I’d like to thank Doc for everything he has given us over the years,” said Bournemouth Chief Executive Neill Blake. We’re appreciative for what he’s done for us on the pitch, and we’ll miss having his personality around the practice pitch.

“I speak for everybody at the club when I wish him well in the next chapter of his career.”

Bournemouth named Jay Mellette as their new Director of Performance in July, with the responsibility of “overseeing all player medical and performance management services.”

The American joined the squad from the Vegas Golden Knights, where he served as Director of Sports Performance for the previous six years. Bill Foley owns both the Golden Knights and Bournemouth.

Alastair Harris, the Cherries’ Head of Performance, will join manager Scott Parker in June 2021.
