Antoine Griezmann spoke about Mason Greenwood following Atletico Madrid’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Getafe.
Griezmann scored twice in Tuesday’s tie to become the club’s joint all-time leading goal-scorer.
He scored right before halftime, but Getafe equalised with Borja Mayoral.
Alvaro Morata restored his side’s advantage in the 69th minute after Griezmann scored his second goal of the night from the penalty spot.
But Getafe responded late on when Oscar Rodriguez scored three minutes from time, and Mayoral equalised in the 93rd minute after scoring a penalty.
Greenwood, on loan from Manchester United for the season, was instrumental in Getafe’s comeback, pulling the strings in the attacking third.
Griezmann was thrilled by the 22-year-old’s performance, saying he caused problems in the second half.
“Mason Greenwood was really causing us problems in the second half, we couldn’t stop him and it cost us the game,” he added.
Getafe manager Jose Bordalas lauded Greenwood’s performance against Atleti, saying, “I said it from day one, he is a fantastic player and he will reach his best level gradually, we have treated him really well.”

Since joining the La Liga team last summer, the Englishman has scored five goals in 15 outings across all competitions.
He is under contract with Manchester United until 2025 and is unlikely to return.
As a result of his accomplishments at Getafe, Greenwood has been linked with a number of Spanish clubs.
Valencia, Real Sociedad, and Barcelona are reported to be monitoring his improvement in preparation for a move next summer.
