Chelsea may once again break the British transfer record by signing Brighton striker Evan Ferguson.

Evan Ferguson is on Chelsea’s list of summer striker targets.

For some time, the Blues have been interested in Brighton and Republic of Ireland midfielder Ferguson.

Chelsea may once again break the British transfer record by signing Brighton striker Evan Ferguson.

They also have a solid relationship with Brighton, having paid a high price for Marc Cucurella, Moises Caicedo, manager Graham Potter, and other backroom staff.

Ferguson, on the other hand, only signed a new deal in November, and Brighton believe he is worth more than the £115 million British record sum they received for Caicedo.

Ferguson is also said to be in no hurry to leave.

Ferguson’s outstanding performances piqued the curiosity of Manchester United as well as Tottenham, who were looking for a replacement for Harry Kane.

Chelsea have been connected with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Brentford’s Ivan Toney in their search for a striker.

Both signings would command a significant transfer price and weekly wages in excess of £200,000.

A move for Ferguson, on the other hand, would allow Chelsea to keep their pay structure intact while investing in a player who has his best years ahead of him.

Despite another sluggish league campaign, Chelsea are likely to wait until the summer to address their striker shortage.

Nicolas Jackson, who has eight goals this season, has had to shoulder the weight of the Blues’ goal-scoring expectations and will be expected to carry on in the second half of the season.

However, there will be more pressure on Chelsea to climb the Premier League rankings and contend for European participation.

Chelsea’s summer transfer window could be harmed if they fail to qualify for Europe for the second time in a row.

It may also require the club to sell some of their homegrown players, such as Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah, in order to balance the books.

Both players have been linked with exits from the club, and another disappointing season may force Chelsea’s hand.
