Erik ten Hag’s statement regarding Jadon Sancho’s departure from Manchester United.

Jadon Sancho has left Man United for now but his loan at Borussia Dortmund is only until the end of the season.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag sent his best wishes to Jadon Sancho, who has returned to Borussia Dortmund on loan.

Sancho, 23, has returned to Dortmund on loan for the rest of the season after being dropped from the first team squad in September.

The winger welcomed his return to Dortmund as “coming home” after openly accusing Ten Hag of lying about his absence from the matchday squad against Arsenal on September 3.

Ten Hag has not mentioned Sancho by name in questions about his exclusion from the United squad, but his tone has softened now that Sancho has left the club.

“I hope he’s doing well,” Ten Hag expressed his concern. “As a result, I wish him the best of luck.” That’s all. I hope he is doing well and will be successful.”

Dortmund paid United a loan fee of €3.5 million plus €4 million in add-ons for the England international. To receive the whole sum, Sancho would have to play in all of Dortmund’s games this season, as well as the club advancing all the way in this season’s Champions League and qualifying for the competition next season. Sancho has not played since August 26, when United defeated Nottingham Forest.

United play Tottenham on Sunday in their lone Premier League match of the month, trailing Ange Postecoglou’s side by eight points.

In Postecoglou’s first home game as manager, Spurs defeated United 2-0, and Ten Hag hailed them as “definitely different” under the Australian.

“So I think they complement they way they played. He changed the environment there, they’re really proactive, very enjoyable to watch them with a lot of dynamics, very proactive.

“They combine it with good results but also when we played them over there – and I think that’s what we can take belief out of that – in the first 35 minutes we dominated them, we should have gone in the lead but we didn’t.

“So we have to make our own luck and take control of the game and finish the chances.”
