Brentford is considering a loan deal for Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon.

The left-back is free to depart Tottenham this month after Manchester United terminated his loan agreement.

Brentford have prioritised the recruitment of new full-backs this month due to an injury crisis.

Rico Henry is out with a major knee injury, and Aaron Hickey is also out after tearing his hamstring in November.

Reguilon is thought to be a feasible alternative for the Bees. The 27-year-old joined United on loan last summer as a replacement for Luke Shaw, but he only made seven starts under Erik ten Hag before being returned to Spurs.

Ange Postecoglou left Reguilon out of his team for Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United, despite only using eight replacements.

His contract expires in 2025, and the Spurs are eager to offload him.

Postecoglou has made it obvious that Reguilon, who joined Spurs from Real Madrid in a £32 million transfer in 2020, is not in his plans.

Destiny Udogie has firmly established himself as the primary left-back, with Ben Davies considered a capable backup when healthy.
