Clubs are expected to find out later today whether they have been charged under the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability regulations (P&S).

Everton and Nottingham Forest are regarded to be the most vulnerable clubs.

Premier League clubs are allowed to lose a maximum of £105 million over a three-year period (£35 million per season).

Everton were docked 10 points in November, the heaviest fine in Premier League history, for violating the league’s profit and sustainability guidelines. The club is appealing their punishment.

The deduction dropped Sean Dyche’s side into the relegation zone, but the Toffees have since fought their way out of the bottom three with a string of victories. They are now 17th in the league, one point ahead of Luton.

Dyche was questioned about the possibility of extra punishment after Everton’s 0-0 draw with Aston Villa on Super Sunday: “We are just waiting on the news.” As you know, the last time the news came out of nowhere, it did so again; we’ll have to wait and watch.

“You don’t know what you don’t know until you know.” I’ll elaborate if and when the news comes in.”

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest are also precariously place in the table. They are just three points ahead of Everton and four points above the drop zone.

Forest spent around £250m on new signings since being promoted from the Championship in 2022.
