Rio Ferdinand has suggested that Arsenal should sign Premier League striker, not Toney.

Arsenal should “go all out” in the January transfer window and sign a new striker from Premier League rivals, according to Premier League legend Rio Ferdinand.

The Gunners are anxious to sign a new No. 9 during the winter window, as fears grow that a succession of wasted opportunities may lead to their title hopes collapsing.

They have dropped from first to fourth place in the Premier League and have been eliminated from the FA Cup.

Brentford striker Ivan Toney has been linked with a transfer to the Emirates Stadium, but Ferdinand believes Arsenal should acquire someone else.

Borja Mayoral of Getafe and Dominic Solanke of Bournemouth have also been mentioned as probable new arrivals for Mikel Arteta’s team.

However, Ferdinand believes Arsenal should go all-in for Newcastle forward Alexander Isak.

Isak has demonstrated his ability to score 10 Premier League goals in 16 Premier League games this season.

“Alexander Isak was constantly running in behind [against Manchester City], and if I’m Arsenal, I’m going all out and buying him,” Ferdinand remarked on his FIVE podcast.

When asked about the probable cost of Isak, the former England and Manchester United player said, “Why? They are unable to spend… They are battling [profit and sustainability rules].

After Newcastle United‘s 3-2 loss to Manchester City, manager Eddie Howe was asked about Isak being linked with a move to Arsenal.

“He can go on to achieve incredible things in his career,” stated the Toon boss.

“He’s still not fully recovered from his injuries this season, so he’s not quite there yet.”

“But the last two performances and the goals he has scored offers a glimpse into his capabilities.”

Isak has 101 goals in 254 career appearances, in addition to ten goals in 42 Sweden caps.
