The Premier League has set a date for a hearing over financial charges against Manchester City.

City were charged in February 2023 with more than 100 alleged breaches of FFP

The Premier League’s CEO, Richard Masters, announced a date for the hearing into Manchester City’s alleged financial rule violations on Tuesday.

City was charged in February with more than 100 alleged financial rule violations since its acquisition by the Abu Dhabi-based City Football Group, and the case was referred to an independent panel for a hearing.

“A date has been scheduled for that proceeding. “Unfortunately, I can’t tell you when that will be, but it is progressing,” Masters told the UK Parliament’s Culture, Media, and Sport (CMS) Committee.

When the allegations were published in February, City stated that it welcomed “the review of this matter by an independent commission, to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence that exists in support of its position.”

The claims against City, who are aiming for a fourth consecutive Premier League title this season, differ from those made against Everton and Nottingham Forest on Monday, Masters told the committee.

“If any club, the current champions or otherwise, had been found in breach of the spending rules, they would be in exactly the same position as Everton or Nottingham Forest,” added the Premier League boss.

“But the volume and character of the charges laid before Manchester City, which I obviously cannot talk about at all, are being heard in a completely different environment.”

Everton and Forest are both facing potential points sanctions, which would be Everton’s second of the season after being fined 10 points in November.
