The era of Bayern Munich super strikers is back.

Robert Lewandowski’s Bundesliga goals record is only a few seasons old, but it is already being challenged by the player who will eventually succeed him at Bayern Munich.

Lewandowski scored 41 goals in just 29 games in the 2020/21 season, with the latter half spent on Record Watch as he crept in on Gerd Müller’s legendary mark. Kane is nearly keeping up so far, with 22 goals from 16, but he still has a chance to play in all 34 Bundesliga games this season.

It is a mark that head coach Thomas Tuchel does not keep track of; he reminded ESPN sideline reporter Archie Rhind-Tutt that the media constantly keeps him updated on where it stands. But in a sit-down conversation with Rhind-Tutt, Tuchel went into detail about the possibility of Lewandowski’s record slipping — and what Kane contributes to this Bayern team.

“It (the record) is under danger. Nobody could have imagined that it would be in danger, yet it is. We need some luck. We need the team to keep moving, Harry to be fit, and then we’ll see what happens… Tuchel stated unequivocally that he believes Harry has no limits. “Being his coach is truly a gift. I feel incredibly fortunate. He’s incredibly humble. Every day, he is the first one out on the pitch. Whatever you ask of him, he will do. He is that gigantic personality that starts out so humble and then transforms into a shark on the pitch because he is hungry for goals and wants to win.

He does it on an everyday basis. He does not only score on a daily basis. He trains well. He does what is needed. He shows his quality. He calms everyone down around him, makes everyone better by his pure presence. It’s the highest level.”
