Harry Kane and Kingsley Coman’s timely comeback for Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga match against rivals Borussia Dortmund has given the team a lift, according to manager Thomas Tuchel.
After suffering an ankle injury during Bayern’s 5-2 victory against Darmstadt, England captain Harry Kane was unable to play in his country’s friendlies against Brazil and Belgium. Meanwhile, Frenchman Coman has been sidelined for two months due to a ruptured ligament in his left knee.
But Manuel Neuer, the captain of Bayern and the team’s first choice custodian, will not play in Der Klassiker due to a strain in his left adductor muscle sustained during last week’s German national team practice.
The reigning champions, 10 points behind Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the Bundesliga, will play host to fourth-place Dortmund on Saturday before travelling to Heidenheim on April 6. On April 9, they go to Arsenal for the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal.
“Harry trained fully with the team yesterday, has stepped things up each day. It’s all fine, he’ll play,” Tuchel told a news conference on Friday.
“King [Coman] will be back in the matchday squad and is a significant factor for us. And returning is Serge Gnabry. For us, both are extremely significant. Our front-end alternatives are expanding, and competition for spots should, ideally, lead to an improvement in quality.
“Neuer has been fired. Sadly, Aleks Pavlovic is not currently available. Raphaël Guerrero hasn’t returned either. Sacha Boey also had an injury during the week. “Those four have been dismissed.”
Against Heidenheim, Tuchel was hoping Neuer would make a comeback.
“Risk has no bearing on it. The agony is just too intense. We’re hoping that a week will do, and that he can play against Heidenheim,” the German stated.

Tuchel, who oversaw from 2015 to 2017, stated he anticipates a competitive match between Bayern and his old team.
“It’s an emotional game, an important game in the Bundesliga with a big rivalry and history,” he stated.
“I’m expecting an opponent that wants to win. Dortmund are very good in attack, very flexible up front. They want to have the ball. It’ll be an open game.
“There’s a good mood and atmosphere. We were very good in attack in recent games. We want to win.”
