The Pro Football Hall of Fame has announced its list of 167 modern-era nominees for the Class of 2025. This star-studded lineup includes notable players like Eli Manning, who is making his debut on the ballot. Manning, a two-time Super Bowl MVP and four-time Pro Bowler, spent 16 seasons with the New York Giants and ranks in the top 10 for career passing yards (57,023), completions (4,895), and touchdown passes (366).
Joining Manning are other first-time eligible players, making up fifteen of the nominees. Additionally, there are seven other former Giants on the list, such as Tiki Barber, Jeremy Shockey, Chris Snee, Justin Tuck, Jessie Armstead, Jeff Feagles, and Sean Landeta. Other notable names include former Colts player Antoine Bethea, a Super Bowl XLI champion.
The current nominee list includes 94 offensive players, 56 defensive players, and 17 special teams players. The selection process will narrow this list to 50 players in mid-October, followed by a reduction to 25 semifinalists and eventually 15 finalists before the final selection meeting, held before Super Bowl LIX. To be inducted, a player must receive at least 80% of the votes, and typically, three to five modern-era players are chosen for induction each year. There are also special categories for senior candidates, coaches, and contributors.
All eyes are on next month’s decision to see which players will make the cut to the top 50.
